Season guide

When do car boot sales start?

Most outdoor car boot sales run from around March or April to October. Sales on hard standing, or with an indoor area, are more likely to keep going through winter.

The typical season

Grass-field sales need dry ground, so most open on the first or second Sunday in March or April and close in late October or November. Of the sales we list, 48 mention a season in their own listing, and they mostly describe spring to autumn.

Searches for car boot sales peak in May and August, and bank holiday Mondays are some of the busiest days of the year.

Winter options

Look for sales held in car parks, on airfields or in buildings. These are some of the sales whose listings mention indoor, covered or all-weather pitches:

Before you travel

Even in season, organisers cancel when fields flood. Check the live status on the sale's page, or the organiser's own page, on the morning.
